Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is Samsung’s latest and greatest fitness tracker with all the bells and whistles. The slick design benefits from a beautiful curved-glass AMOLED display and premium build quality, while the touch-enabled bezel is ideal for quick operation on the move. This attractive body houses a slew of great health-tracking features, ranging from heart rate monitoring (that alerts you if it falls within certain ranges), to GPS, to some of the best sleep tracking

around. There’s also an LTE model.

The two-day battery life isn’t the best, but it’s not bad compared to most Wear OS watches, and you can charge it with a compatible Galaxy phone thanks to Qi wireless charging. There is a wealth of smart functionality too.

That said, Jimmy found in his review that the heart rate monitoring and GPS weren’t the most accurate, and we’d like to see Samsung add more third-party app support in the future.

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active

If you like the Galaxy Watch Active 2 but don’t need all the new features and want to save some cash, look no further than the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active. This is a toned-down version of the Galaxy Watch, with Tizen and most of the features found on its larger sibling.

The biggest omission from this watch is Samsung’s iconic rotating crown. Without it, users will have to navigate the wearable using its 1.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen (there are worse fates). With the Exynos 9110 CPU, 768MB of RAM, and a 230mAh battery under the hood, the Galaxy Watch Active will have no problem running apps downloaded from the Galaxy Apps store for almost two days straight.

If you own a Galaxy S10 smartphone, you can wirelessly charge the Galaxy Watch Active on the back of the handset. Being Qi compatible also means that the wearable should be able to charge on any of your existing wireless chargers.

Unfortunately, this watch suffers from the same things as the Watch Active 2 — heart rate and GPS monitoring can’t really be trusted.

Samsung Galaxy Watch

The Samsung Galaxy Watch is Samsung’s big-and-rugged smartwatch. This timepiece is great for everything from displaying notifications, running apps from the Galaxy Apps store, and tracking vitals while exercising.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch comes in two different sizes: 46mm and 42mm. While there is a small difference in display dimensions, both wearables sport a 300 x 300 resolution display, are powered by the Exynos 9110 CPU. They also include NFC for mobile payments using Samsung Pay. With 472mAh and 270mAh cells, each watch is estimated to get up to seven or four days respectively of battery life.

Additionally, a Wi-Fi-only model is available in addition to an LTE version. The two variations only differ in terms of RAM. The cellular model gets almost double the amount of memory to help it run on its own since it doesn’t need to be paired with a phone.

Samsung Galaxy Fit

The Samsung Galaxy Fit is Samsung’s latest fitness tracker, and is in many ways the successor to the Gear Fit 2. That said, it also offers a completely different feature set, doing away with the curved screen and advanced smart features (though you can receive notifications and respond with pre-written replies). The Galaxy Fit is all about fitness, and provides everything you need to that end: heart rate monitoring, activity tracking, auto sleep tracking, 5ATM water resistance, and more. It does all this in a slim and light package, for just $76.

Which Samsung fitness tracker is right for me?

Which Samsung fitness tracker is right for you? Good question.

The answer will likely come down to whether you would prefer something that doubles as a smartwatch (in case the Galaxy Watch Active 2 is a great pick), or whether you just want fitness features. If it’s just fitness you’re after, then the value for money offered by the Galaxy Fit is hard to argue with.
